The Weekend

In the weekend we rode our horses on both days of the weekend and that is pretty much all we did. Since we hadn’t ridden our horses for a while my horse was being pretty stupid. She was jumping around and not waiting and taking off every time she had the chance. It was fun but by the end of it my thighs were pretty sore. On Sunday we went mustering for sheep. We had to drench them. Since we don’t start lambing until way late there were only like on sheep with a lamb so we left her up there with a couple of other sheep that looked like they were going to lamb. Since Nina and I had to go down a ridge we cantered really fast up the ridge to get back to the other horses. I so felt like Shadow was going to buck so I held her back a little bit. When we got back to the other horses Brooke (Since she came over to ride with us and help us with the mustering) was trying to teach Sunny to back 5 steps and then walk forward 5 steps and then I tried with Shadow and she did it really well.
When mum was back at the bike we followed her down. Roma lead her horse down and the rest of us rode down on our horses. Brooke kept on asking if Te Waiata will miss her and Sunny will like her. We kept on saying yes and no. About 15mins later we got to the bottom of the track mum was doing something with the fence and the sheep were just grazing in paddock next to us. Brooke asked us if we could do jumping when we got home and then about 5 minutes later she asked if we should go and help mum with the gate of whatever she was doing. We said that if you want to go and help mum then we won’t be able jump. She said that she really wanted to jump because she had never jumps on Sunny before. When we got home we tied the horses up so then we could go and get something to eat for lunch since dad had made a pizza. But dad had to still put the toppings on the pizza so I had to go and help mum draft out the sheep. Then we went back tot the house to have some pizza and then mum went up and started to drench the sheep. Since she has to go and help Silvia and Allen with the milking I had to finish of the drenching and Brooke held my horse. Once we had finished drenching we went back down to UN tack the horses so Brooke took the saddle of Sunny and then put it back on Te Waiata so then she could ride back to her house. Since Roma did not want to jump her before, Brooke jumped Te Waiata and then she went home. I had to call Debbie si then she new when Brooke was coming home.

Palmerston North

It was really loud on the way up because the music was really loud and every on was singing and I brought lots of lollies on the way up. I was in a room with just about all the oldest in my team expect me because even though I am the tallest in the team I am the second youngest. We got all of our rooms ready and then went to bed. In the morning we were awake first so we made our lunches. It was really hot so we didn’t have to wear all of our heavy gear. The courts were about 5mins away from our motel so we left quite late but we left early enough so we could warm up before our first game. We had about 5 games but they were really short. They were 6minute quarters so all together it was 24mimutes. I was really tired at the end because I had no times off and I was playing Goal Defence for the whole time. When we had finished our coach told us who was player of the day and she chose me. I was really happy and so was dad because he had come to watch for the day. Mum said that she really wanted to come but a truck was coming at about 10:00 so it was too late for her to travel up to Palmerston North and back again. She said that she was really sorry. When we got back to the motel Hannah my coach had the bath run warmish hot and two buckets of ice. What we had to do was but our feet in freezing cold ice and then after a minute we had to quickly get into a hot bath and put our feet in that, then we had to get back into the ice and after a minute we had to get into the hot water again and then we could go and get changed out of our wet clothes into dry clothes and then watch every body else do what we did. I went first with another girl called Evie. Since we were first we had to have to coldest ice but then it wouldn’t work as well. What it was meant to do was loosen our calf muscles so then we would be able to play better the next day. In the morning the next day it was really cold and spitting, so we did wear our heavy gear!!!! When we got into our van it was nice and hot so I started taking of my jackets and stuff put I couldn’t really because it was all squashed because we were going home today and we weren’t coming back to the motel so we had to bring all of our bags and stuff. Since I just about coughed all night I was really tired but I still tried to play my best. When we got there it was freezing cold and it was still spitting a little bit. Some teams had just started their first game and we were next so we had to get warmed up. But before we started warming up we just started shooting. Then we started warming up after about 10 minutes. After about half an hour we had our first game it was really easy so we won by heaps. Then we warmed up again like 10 minutes before our next game that game was also so easy so we bashed them as well!!! The next game was against a harder team but we still bet them but I don’t think the score was very high. Sometimes we just don’t play very well and we get great intercepts and we just chuck it away that is most probably why we kept on loosing against the A taranaki team. My coach keeps on saying that since they are called the ‘A’ team then they are way better than us. But the only reason that we keep on loosing against them because 1. We weren’t playing as a team and 2. We kept on throwing the ball away. Even though I totally thought that they were going to waste us the first and second time we didn’t lose by lots witch was really lucky. After prize giving we got back into our very squishy van all wet and stinky and started on the rode home. It wasn’t as squishy as before because lots of parents came to watch and they took their children home so only about 6 of us stayed on the bus. Even though Silvia came to watch I still had to go in the van with the others. We ate all the lollies that dad had brought for us and then I started to feel sick even though I didn’t show it. When we were getting closer to where I had to get of I started to feel home sick or something in my tummy started to do something and for some strange reason I started to cry. When every one was asking what was wrong I didn’t no what to say so I just nodded my head and stuff like that because I did not no what to say. When we got to Hawera Silvia was waiting for me and a couple of other parents were waiting for their kids. I got or of the van and then I remembered that I didn’t have the quiche dish that I had put my potato bake into. I had left in Ricky’s mum’s car. Ricky is a girl from my team she is a really good WA and she never plays centre. Hannah said that I would get it next practice. When I got into Silvia’s car she asked where I wanted to go and get something to eat I said that I already had, had a burger because we had stopped at Mc Donald’s and I had brought a burger. Even though Hannah said that we were just going to go straight home. So Silvia was a bit grumpy about that. Because otherwise Silvia had stopped at Mc Donald’s as well but any way!!! On the way home we had to stop at Hannah and Greg’s place because Roma and Caterina had slept there the night before they came up to Palmerston North and they had left a couple of things there. When we had got home Nina had made a cake to celebrate how we came second. It was really pretty but I didn’t feel like anything to eat because I had lots to eat on the way home. But she had also made a drink so I drank that!!! I had a bath and I stayed in there for ages until mum shouted at me to get out so then I got our put on my PJ’s and then dad rubbed my sore calf’s and then I went to bed. I fell asleep real quickly because I only had 1 half off dring the whole 2 games.

Netball

Yesterday our Saturday netball team went to a tournament. We did pretty well against the other teams. We won two and drew 1. If we had got higher points the other teams that we had won against then we would if got in the semi-finals but this huge school called Highlands got way higher points against the teams that we won against so they got in the semi-finals and played against a really hard team they were called Kaponga 2 quick. We played them on Saturday and we lost by seven goals. Robyn said that we did really well against those teams. I was really tired at the end of all of those games because I had to play 3 whole half hour games and all I wanted to do was sleep. Once we had left we went to go and see nana at the hospice. It was really quiet and when we got there nana was walking up the walkway thing to her room. Nina followed her while I waited for mum to come and then show her which room nana was in. when we had got to nana’s room granddad was there and their friend from Raglan came down to see them so she was there as well. They asked if we could get and get them a cup of tea and Nina and I had a Milo. They where huge cups so it took a while for Nina and I to finish them. We talked about our horses and if we still had Kaimanawas at our house still and mum said yes and still buying another one!!! Laugh out loud!!!! Once we had finished our Milo and mum had finished her cup of tea we went to the car and then when we were on our way to the petrol station I called dad and told him how Nina and I got on and then told him where were we were and some other stuff and then hung up and then fell asleep!!!!!!! (I was lucky that mum woke me up when we got to the petrol station so then I could get a chocolate bar!!!!).When we got home I feel asleep until dinner was ready and then after dinner I went to bed.

sheep dissection

On the 6th of June dad came down to do school to do a dissection with a lamb. We named it Lucy. When dad got here we had a talk about what things that we had to do if we were going to touch some of things inside of Lucy. When we had finished talking we got our shoes on and then went over to the offal hole and dad brought the motor bike up and pulled Lucy off the trailer. When dad got Lucy off the trailer we got our gloves on and then watched as dad show us the ball and socket joint. I thought it was a big ball and socket but it just looked like a bubble and a little hole!! Next he opened up the stomach and first her showed us the ribs and then cut them out and chucked them away. After that she took out the liver and then we all got to hold it but Kelly and Maddy stayed back and did not even want to see the liver. It was heaver then I thought it was and it was also was heaver then it looked!!! Next he cut out the lungs and then asked if we knew the difference between them because if we had a sick animal then they are usually the same colour so he put them in a bucket of water. The liver sunk and the lungs floated because it still had air in it. Then dad cut out the heart. Dad asked us some questions about it and it had small blood clots in it. Dad asked us all the parts of the heart and we also saw that the heart was under the lungs and the ribs. Next dad slit the stomach and then all of this rumen came out. Every one said eeeeeeeewwwwwwww!!! After that dad got out the intestines we had a talk about them and then we measured them. Altogether they were about 14 meters long not including the large intestine. Dad said that ours where about 30 meters long. Next dad cut off the skin of Lucy’s face. We had a look at the teeth and the mouth and then he cut out the eye!! It was really disgusting when he did that even though when he had cut it out he showed us the lens of the eye and then dad poked Lucy’s eye and then this fluid came out and it got dad!!! Caterina had the camera and she got a really good photo of it when the fluid came out of his eye!!! Next dad showed us that at the bottom of the eye it had this really, really pretty bluey greeny colour. It was B E A U T I F U L. (the colour that was)!!!

At Home

Yesterday mum did my horse’s first time of bare foot trimming. I think that is really cool because since she has just been broken in and only have a month or so to learn to pick up her feet and then suddenly she have to stand there for an hour or so but only just pulled away from mum a couple of times and when mum did the rasping she only wanted to put her feet back when mum was trying to rasp her back feet. When mum had finished doing her feet I went over the house and got her a whole apple to give it to her to say that it was alright if mum did her feet. Once mum had finished her feet and Shadow was eating her apple mum was going on about how good she was and how our other horses would have done and about this and how she was just a baby and she was doing all this stuff. Even though it thought that it was pretty cool that Shadow had let mum do all of her feet. (Considering that she had a huge scar on her back foot so she did not want mum to lift it up) I didn’t really think that mum would go on and on about it even though some parts wee pretty interesting!!! (Laughing out loud).
When I had put Shadow away I went over to the house and Nina was cooking and Roma was on the computer and Caterina was watching her. (That was pretty usual). As soon as I came in dad came in and told us to go and feed our horses and do all of our jobs around the house. So I went back outside to get Shadows bucket and I told Nina to go and get Lilly’s, Penny’ and Sunny’s bucket. When Nina had brought them up I had already done Shadows feed and was doing Delilah’s feed when Nina came up with the other horses feed so I had to do them as well. I only usually do the oat and chaff because when I do the Sugar beet I get stuff all over my hand sp I usually get my other sisters to do that!!
When I was giving Shadows feed to her she trotted after me because she loves it (and so do the other horses.) so she does all this stupid stuff so I kept walking around until she settled down and then I gave it to her. I put it in this little hole so then I would not roll down the hill so the next might after that I would not have to go down the hill to get the bucket. When I got inside Roma was running the shower and Caterina was cleaning up her side of the room. They did not come out and help Nina and I with the horses because I told them to tidy up the house but I also meant mine and Nina’s side of the room not just there’s. Nina got some of her muffins out and then put the other ones in but then when the timer went of for the other lot they weren’t even close to finishing. So we did the horses and then when we got inside the bath was running. When mum came in we had all got through the bath and Nina and I were tidying up our side.

Skills Day

On Sunday Kelly and I went to a skills day in Stratford. We went because we were trying to get into the rep tem. Kelly and I were picked out of 70 year 7’s and next Sunday we are going to another one to another Skills day. This time we have to try and get into the A year 7’s team or the development. If we get into the A team then we will have to go to a tournament and if we can not go to the tournament then we will not be able to go any further. I really want to get into the rep team.

Jones Cup

On Tuesday we went to Jones Cup. Even though we had these really ugly uniforms ED still won the Jones Cup. We won all our games and I only played one position because Linda Collins would not let me change. There were really hard teams but we still bet them. Luckily we had really good shooters and good defence because we would not have won. The hardest team would most probably Midhirst Blue. The score was 8-6 but I thought that we lost but we ended up winning!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday Sport

On Saturday our Netball team played against the second hardest team and luckily for them they won!!!
The score was something like 33-26 we could of done better but we weren’t fit enough so we got tired. We were going well in the 1st and 2nd quarter but then we just do tired but we still kept on going. Some people weren’t playing as well as the usually do but I think that they still tried. It was fun though even though we lost. I think that it was good that we lose against another team instead of just one and winning against all of the other teams. It was really hard though. Before all of this game happened we had to drive to town and then since there was some kind of car thing so we all got out and dad parked the car and then we went over to watch Roma play her hockey. When they were warming up Angus, Koren, Claire and Fiona were walking to the turf. Nina saw them and then she told me then we went over to greet them. We watched them hockey guys play for a while and then Nina, Koren, Claire and I got board so we went over to our mum and then we asked for some money to go and get some lollies. Mum said no because we she paid all this money for our teeth. They said that we could go and walk around and look at the food but Nina and I brought some lollies anyway!!!! Nina brought something for Koren but since our parents said no koren did not want any. I brought a Claire a Russian Fudge and she said that she had never tasted that before but when she did taste it she really liked it. Then we went to mum. Dad had taken Caterina to rugby and then we went to go and watch Caterina play rugby and then we went to our netball.

Caterinas birthday Party

On Sunday 11th May Caterina had a birthday party. All the kids in the school came expect Rhys. Caterina got a lot of money and a lot of presents!!!! We had about four or five games and my team won most of them. In the sack race I was in front of Kelly and Koren a so Kelly pulled my hair and my top so it was a draw so Kelly, Koren and I had to do the race again. Lots of people felt sick at the end of it because we had brought a lot of chocolate prizes.
I think that it was cool the Brooke brought her horse down because we were going to ride and most kids rode Te Waiata any way. We got all the horses out so the kids could ride them but when Henry a friend of ours got on Roma’s pony she kept on bucking when Henry as on her so he got of and I got on and went for a canter. She only did about three bucks and then she was good. I think that she was bucking because henry was heavy and she is cold backed. (That means that she always has the girth done up straight away so she bucks.) I just about fell of because my stirrups were way to long and Sunny (Roma’s horse) was doing so many huge bucks. Lucky I knew how to grip and knew how to stop a horse because when Samantha was riding Te Waiata and I was coming down the hill on Sunny I just about bucked right into Samantha on Te Waiata. Then I went for a canter and she did even more bucks but I still did not fall of. Dad said that we had to put the horses away and start playing the games. So we did that and then we played the games. We had teams for the whole day and the teams names were, The Flying Pigs and the other team was The Talking Fish. I thought that the teams were fair because we kept on having draws!!! Then every one left and wewatched a movie and then we had dinner and then went to bed.

Brenda Bellringer course

On the 30th of April Nina, Roma, Caterina and I went to a rally with our horses at the pony club grounds in Stratford. It was sort of a private rally but with only four people in the group not lots of people. On the first day it was pouring down with rain and since Roma and Caterina’s horses were at our friends place mum dropped Nina and I of first since we only have a double horse float. We were standing there in the rain for ages until Bev the person who ran the whole day said that we could put them in the barn.
We walked them over to the barn then we could not find a gate to get in or something. So we just stood there until this man came over. He found a way to get our horses in and then we stayed there until mum came with the other two and there ponies. A couple of minutes before mum came the man left and when mum came Nina and I tried to get our horses out the way the man did Shadow my horse got caught up on the wire and pulled and pulled. Since Nina was standing on the wire when Shadow went over Nina fell flat on her bum and then it was all dirty!!!!!
Once Shadow had got herself out of the wire both the horses were snorting and they were really scared. The same man came over to help us and so did Bev (the lady who ran the whole day.) when they got to the barn where we were they said to go and get ready while they fix the wire and make it look all tidy again!!!!!!! When we were leading them over to mum the horses where still snorting and they were really hyper!!!!!!!! I thought it was good until we actually started to work Shadow started to buck when I was on her but I was lucky not to fall of!!!! I was lucky not to fall of because we were in the sand arena and it was all wet but Shadow did not care!!!
On the first day there were two other kids that we knew with there horses that learnt with us but on the second day there was just the Polettis!!! Mum thought that the second day was better because the other girls were not there. (Mum also thought that they were rude because the kept on talking back!) on the frist day we learnt how to trot on the right diagonal witch was really hard because she asked us if we were or not but if we said yes and we were wrong she said NO and we had to sit one beet but I usually sat either 2 or 3 but I got there in the end.
After both the days we were really tired and so were the ponies but the quickly ate up the hard food that we gave them then we put them in the paddock and I think that they were happy then!

Tuesday 15th April

On Monday the 14th of April the year 8s went to the youth leadership conference. They were really excited but when they left it was all really quiet. (I think that they were the loudest in the school!) and then when we got home Nina rang up and she left a message because we went to town but on the message she said something about poor Johnny the crab he died so mum chucked him out so we thought that was pretty weird! Since mum was gone and we went to town to get some food but we also got DVDs and mum does not usually let us watch them on school nights but dad let us. Today they are coming home and I think that the school will be loud again but that will be ok.

Mackbeth

On Sunday Eila, Collin, Nina and I went to a Shakespeare play in Hawera. The play was called Macbeth and I was cool even though it was really hard to understand. I think it was hard to understand because they said it all in Shakespeare language! It started at 8:00 and when we got back into the car it was about 10:30 so when we got home it was 11:30 and Nina and I slept just about the whole way. I think that Macbeth was the 2nd play that I had gone to see. Eila said that it was written in a modern way so that it was easier to understand even though I still could not understand it. My favourite part of the play was when someone was knocking on the door and the Porter was going on and on about the knocking on the door witch was pretty funny! It was pretty obvious that he was drunk!

My Last Horse Show On Sunny

Yesterday Nina, Roma, Caterina and I went to a horse show and I went on my horse Sunny and for dressage I came 1st against Nina, Roma and another girl I know called Sarah. For show jumping I refused once but then cleared the rest of the jumps and for cross country I got clear and on the last jump I caught up with Delilah and Nina because Delilah would not go over it because ‘it was to scary’ for her but luckily Sunny did not mind but once Sunny had jumped it Delilah followed her. Since we picked up Brooke on the way she got to have a couple of jumps when we had finished the show (even though I said a couple of jumps it was actually the whole round of the cross country!!!
Once we had really tried the horses out we had a sandwich and then loaded the Penny and Sunny up and Te Waiata and Delilah went with a friend of ours. Then we went home.

ESSAY

I disagree that it is better living in the country because even though you get much fitter, fresh air, less pollution and we have more room to play sport, you can’t meet as many friends in the country as you can in the city or town. I think that the worst thing about living in the country is travelling to get to work and stuff like that. But you don’t have to travel as long if you live in the city or town.
Doing sport is hard for the people who live in the country because they have to travel further to get to everything and also you can’t play all the sports that you want to because it costs so much money for the petrol. Also it is so long to drive even though it is easier to get into a team.
The shops would get more money because people who live in the country have to save up so they get a lot of food. But if everybody thought that the country was better than the city the diaries and stuff would not get as many costumers and not very much money so they would all go out of business
I think that parents that live on the farm think that living in the country is way better then the city because on the farm there is cheaper meat, they can grow their own vegetables and they would also get to spend more time with their family because they are always at home. But then again if they are not getting enough money on the farm they would have to came to town every day to go to work and guess how much money they would spend on petrol!
I think that town schools are better because there are more friends to choose out of and there are school trips just about every year. There is the right amount of people to play different games at lunch. At most town schools there are dentists just over the road from the school so once the kids are done at the dentist they can just come back to school instead of travelling to the dentist every month or so.
Travelling is a problem for people who are living in the country because they have to travel further but if you live in the town then they can just walk down to the shop to get a few things and you would not have to use as much petrol as well.
As you have read in my Essay it is better living in the town because it does not cost as much and you can do as much sport as you want and don’t have to travel a long way to get to things and places.

OUR NEXT ODE

In the 6th of April Nina, Roma, Caterina and I are all going to a One day event. Caterina is going in the lead rein class and Nina Roma and I are going in the off lead rein class and there is no one else competing so Nina Roma and I are all competing against each other. So that means that we will all get a ribbon in my class because there is a 1st ,2nd and 3rd placing and there are only 3 people in our class. I don’t really no how Caterina will go because there are 5 more lead reiners and her horse had just gone to a big games day so she is really, really fit!!! (Caterina does not even want to ride her first because her horse is really fast so she might run out of the arena again like she did at her last show!)
This morning mum said that there was only going to be like 10 people there altogether because it is only a local One Day event and there is only going to be Eltham and Central Makahu Pony club there is well.

Monday 31st March

Yesterday my parents where so happy because it was raining we hardly did any thing because since it was raining and we have cough. But in the morning mum, Roma and I went to go and see if there were any possums in the traps. When we had finished we got 15 so since me and Roma helped mum we got $1 each possum so altogether we got $15 each. Since the track we went up was slippery mum was sliding on the bike down the hill, the bike was sliding towards the bank on the side of the track Roma had to get of and walk down the hill because other wise she would get a smoshed leg!!!
I got of any way because then Roma would not have to walk down the hill by her self!! When we were on the way down we were skidding down the hill and Roma just about fell over!!!!
When we got home dad was cooking lunch and Nina was playing on the computer and Caterina was watching. What Nina was playing was a online game called www.miniclip.com . when lunch was ready I quickly ate what was on my plate and then went over to the computer and I played the same game as Nina. Then when we had nothing to do we went to do some baking and then gave our horses their hard food and then cleaned up the house, had dinner and then went to bed.

ESSAY

THERE SHOULD NOT BE ANY SPORT IN THE WORLD…

I absolutely disagree with this statement lots of kids will be unhealthy. The kids will get board, lazy, fat and so unfit, even though their parents won’t have to get up early in the morning.
Not being allowed to play sport it would affect coaches because they would not get any money and would not be able to meet any new children.
It would affect the children the most by not getting strong and they would get uncoordinated because they would not get to play any thing new.
Even though people who don’t like playing sport would be happy but would not develop any new skills and would get absolutely unhealthy, unfit and they would also get very weak. Kids who love sport also would not be able to develop any skills when they are older.
Parents would not have to pay any money so they would be happy! But what about their kids? They would get fat and would not have anything to do.
As you have read in my essay that if there is no sport then the kids will get so unhealthy, I have explained who would get affected if there was no sport in the world. It is really important that we have sport so everybody can be healthier and much happier!!

Wendesday 8th August

Yesterday we went to Toko School to play for the Hurl-stone shield.
We played against Midhurst and we won 30-13 and I played WA for the whole game. We were in front the whole game.
When we had finished the game we went to the car to get some food that we brought and then we brought it back over to the hall to do the speeches and to have our lunch.
Since Nina was the captain she had to do a speech and once Nina had finished me and Kelly were saying to each other that we did not want to be a captain so then we did not have to do a speech! After that day was finished we only had one game left against Kimata so we are lucky

the three day horse treak

The second favourite thing that I did in the holidays was go on a 3 day horse treak with mum and Nina, Roma and Caterina. It was really fun even though our bums were sore when we had finished and so were the horses’ legs!
On the first of the treak we started at the campgrounds in wanga with 13 people and us four were the youngest!
Since people were still saddling up we left but they caught up with us because we had to wait for them at the gate in a huge paddock.
It was soooo annoying because when it was lunch time we had to wait until Jack Curtis got off his horse and we had to wait until Jack did this and wait until Jack does thatL but also he was the organizing the treak. But it was not him who told us to do it was our MOTHER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!When we got to where we were going to stay the night the old people talked and we had dinner, had a shower and then went to bed.
In the morning I didn’t want to wake up because I was sooooo tired but I had to get up anywayL.
Once we had all got up we had breakfast and then got or ponies tacked up. Half way through the treak Sunny my pony was not behaving and not standing still and always standing on my feet when I got off her so when mum came me and mum swapped ponies cause mum was borrowing and pony off Jack because her horse had a sore foot. Her name was Julie.
When I got on her there were lots of hills and Julie just flew up them and even passed Caterina’s fast little pony Penny and man Penny is like a race car when she wants to be!!!!!!
On the third day I just could not get up but I had to and that was when we went over Jacks old fram and it was like we were on the top of the world because we were up so high!! The third day I think would be the bet day of the treak!
