sheep dissection

On the 6th of June dad came down to do school to do a dissection with a lamb. We named it Lucy. When dad got here we had a talk about what things that we had to do if we were going to touch some of things inside of Lucy. When we had finished talking we got our shoes on and then went over to the offal hole and dad brought the motor bike up and pulled Lucy off the trailer. When dad got Lucy off the trailer we got our gloves on and then watched as dad show us the ball and socket joint. I thought it was a big ball and socket but it just looked like a bubble and a little hole!! Next he opened up the stomach and first her showed us the ribs and then cut them out and chucked them away. After that she took out the liver and then we all got to hold it but Kelly and Maddy stayed back and did not even want to see the liver. It was heaver then I thought it was and it was also was heaver then it looked!!! Next he cut out the lungs and then asked if we knew the difference between them because if we had a sick animal then they are usually the same colour so he put them in a bucket of water. The liver sunk and the lungs floated because it still had air in it. Then dad cut out the heart. Dad asked us some questions about it and it had small blood clots in it. Dad asked us all the parts of the heart and we also saw that the heart was under the lungs and the ribs. Next dad slit the stomach and then all of this rumen came out. Every one said eeeeeeeewwwwwwww!!! After that dad got out the intestines we had a talk about them and then we measured them. Altogether they were about 14 meters long not including the large intestine. Dad said that ours where about 30 meters long. Next dad cut off the skin of Lucy’s face. We had a look at the teeth and the mouth and then he cut out the eye!! It was really disgusting when he did that even though when he had cut it out he showed us the lens of the eye and then dad poked Lucy’s eye and then this fluid came out and it got dad!!! Caterina had the camera and she got a really good photo of it when the fluid came out of his eye!!! Next dad showed us that at the bottom of the eye it had this really, really pretty bluey greeny colour. It was B E A U T I F U L. (the colour that was)!!!
