Tuesday 15th April

On Monday the 14th of April the year 8s went to the youth leadership conference. They were really excited but when they left it was all really quiet. (I think that they were the loudest in the school!) and then when we got home Nina rang up and she left a message because we went to town but on the message she said something about poor Johnny the crab he died so mum chucked him out so we thought that was pretty weird! Since mum was gone and we went to town to get some food but we also got DVDs and mum does not usually let us watch them on school nights but dad let us. Today they are coming home and I think that the school will be loud again but that will be ok.

Mackbeth

On Sunday Eila, Collin, Nina and I went to a Shakespeare play in Hawera. The play was called Macbeth and I was cool even though it was really hard to understand. I think it was hard to understand because they said it all in Shakespeare language! It started at 8:00 and when we got back into the car it was about 10:30 so when we got home it was 11:30 and Nina and I slept just about the whole way. I think that Macbeth was the 2nd play that I had gone to see. Eila said that it was written in a modern way so that it was easier to understand even though I still could not understand it. My favourite part of the play was when someone was knocking on the door and the Porter was going on and on about the knocking on the door witch was pretty funny! It was pretty obvious that he was drunk!

My Last Horse Show On Sunny

Yesterday Nina, Roma, Caterina and I went to a horse show and I went on my horse Sunny and for dressage I came 1st against Nina, Roma and another girl I know called Sarah. For show jumping I refused once but then cleared the rest of the jumps and for cross country I got clear and on the last jump I caught up with Delilah and Nina because Delilah would not go over it because ‘it was to scary’ for her but luckily Sunny did not mind but once Sunny had jumped it Delilah followed her. Since we picked up Brooke on the way she got to have a couple of jumps when we had finished the show (even though I said a couple of jumps it was actually the whole round of the cross country!!!
Once we had really tried the horses out we had a sandwich and then loaded the Penny and Sunny up and Te Waiata and Delilah went with a friend of ours. Then we went home.

ESSAY

I disagree that it is better living in the country because even though you get much fitter, fresh air, less pollution and we have more room to play sport, you can’t meet as many friends in the country as you can in the city or town. I think that the worst thing about living in the country is travelling to get to work and stuff like that. But you don’t have to travel as long if you live in the city or town.
Doing sport is hard for the people who live in the country because they have to travel further to get to everything and also you can’t play all the sports that you want to because it costs so much money for the petrol. Also it is so long to drive even though it is easier to get into a team.
The shops would get more money because people who live in the country have to save up so they get a lot of food. But if everybody thought that the country was better than the city the diaries and stuff would not get as many costumers and not very much money so they would all go out of business
I think that parents that live on the farm think that living in the country is way better then the city because on the farm there is cheaper meat, they can grow their own vegetables and they would also get to spend more time with their family because they are always at home. But then again if they are not getting enough money on the farm they would have to came to town every day to go to work and guess how much money they would spend on petrol!
I think that town schools are better because there are more friends to choose out of and there are school trips just about every year. There is the right amount of people to play different games at lunch. At most town schools there are dentists just over the road from the school so once the kids are done at the dentist they can just come back to school instead of travelling to the dentist every month or so.
Travelling is a problem for people who are living in the country because they have to travel further but if you live in the town then they can just walk down to the shop to get a few things and you would not have to use as much petrol as well.
As you have read in my Essay it is better living in the town because it does not cost as much and you can do as much sport as you want and don’t have to travel a long way to get to things and places.
